Arcadis Achieves 30% Carbon Reduction in Infrastructure Project Using One Click LCA
Arcadis utilized One Click LCA in a major mobility project in the UK's southwest region to drive sustainability and reduce whole-life carbon emissions. Tasked with improving a motorway junction while meeting climate change requirements, Arcadis implemented a whole-life carbon approach from the project's outset. By integrating One Click LCA alongside 3D BIM modeling and the National Highways’ Carbon Tool, the team was able to conduct early-stage carbon assessments, optimize material selection, and ensure measurable sustainability outcomes. One Click LCA provided access to a vast, continuously updated environmental product declarations (EPD) database, enabling Arcadis to make data-driven decisions that prioritized lower-carbon materials. The software’s intuitive interface and flexible scenario analysis allowed the team to compare design options in real time, track carbon reduction progress, and seamlessly integrate sustainability considerations into their workflow. Additionally, One Click LCA’s compatibility with Autodesk Revit streamlined data transfer, reducing errors and enhancing efficiency. As a result, the project is expected to achieve a 30% reduction in carbon emissions compared to the baseline, avoiding approximately 26,700 metric tons of CO2e. This initiative demonstrates Arcadis’ commitment to sustainable infrastructure solutions, benefiting not only the client but also the wider community and environment through lower emissions, cost savings, and improved regional resilience.
